Bay Area Startup Weekend Wrap Up!

The season of consuming too much turkey has finally come to an end, and so we finally present to you the final post from Startup Weekend Bay Are at the Hacker Dojo. And what an event it was! With over 150 registrations and 40+ pitches, once again the Bay Area demonstrated just how much innovation and raw enthusiasm it has to offer.

After the pitches on Friday night, thirteen groups formed and started turning their ideas into reality. Some 48 hours later, they were back to show what they had done. Here, Niten Luthra provides a great overview of the pitch night:

Launching at Startup Weekend:

DIALSOCIAL

Using the Twilio API, DialSocial allows you to create and host your own “party line” (remember those?!) for free. Business or pleasure, chat with like minded people from around the world.

VERDANT EVENT

Verdant Event created the scheduling system used for the Sunday night Startup Weekend presentations! Their primary focus is around green events, and enabling the communities that search for them.

CADUCES

Caduces aims to help maintain your entire family’s health, wellness, and fitness information all in one place by providing a “virtual safety deposit box” which contains your  ”family health genealogy”.

TWEETLEADERS.COM

Tweet Leaders seeks to identify who are the most influential people on twitter for any given topic, effortlessly providing the top ten for any search term based on conversations and mentions in the both the public and private domain. Still looking for a video of this great presentation!

FOOTRAFFIC

FooTraffic provides a means to monetize location based networks such as FourSquare by providing a self-service couponing system for local businesses.

BETTER TALKING

Better talking allows you to hone your interview skills through sharing your responses to an automated stock interview with your friends, and gathering their feedback. See it action here:
